A Committed Partner in Project KARE
When Project KARE officially began in October of 2003 Edmonton Police Service (EPS) committed to support the Project in whatever way they could. As a result the cooperation between Project KARE and EPS has been outstanding. In January 31, 2005 EPS reaffirmed their support by reassigning four members to work full time on Project KARE. These members brought with them the skills and abilities to work in such an environment.
As a 2009 update the Edmonton Police Service continues to support Project KARE and sends highly skilled members to work with the RCMP led task force. We currently have three members permanently assigned and with shortages addressed within the organizations, we can hope to be back to full strength in the very near future. Most of the victims in the cases being investigated by Project KARE have come from the inner-city of Edmonton and as such the knowledge that these EPS members bring with them to the task force is invaluable to ensuring a successful outcome. They have been well received by the other members of the Project and have already made significant contributions.
"We at the Edmonton Police Service still believe that Project KARE is a valuable investigation. The deaths of these women have thus far been investigated with no stone left unturned. It's an exciting opportunity for the members of the Edmonton Police Service to experience and to assist with an investigation of this scope and magnitude."
